An agreement allows electric companies access to easements and rights of way so power can be restored as swiftly and as safely as possible.
If OG&E linemen didn’t have access to this equipment, we would have to wait for permits to be issued before restoring power after storms.

What is the reason for this agreement?
The Oklahoma Supreme Court has consistently required an agreement when public streets or rights of way are used by a public utility for the purpose of generating, distributing and selling electricity. (OEC v. OG&E, 982 P.2d 512 1999)
Agreements must be approved by the qualified voters of the municipality, per the Oklahoma Constitution, Art.18, §5(a).
